Hawarden is a village on Highway 19 in the Rural Municipality of Loreburn No. 254, north of Strongfield, Loreburn and Elbow. It takes its name from Hawarden Castle in Flintshire, Wales, the country home of William Gladstone, the British politician who served four times as prime minister. The village incorporated on July 16, 1909, and its main street was named Gladstone Street.
